It has come to my attention that some members of Council are inconsistent when it comes to declaring Declarations of Pecuniary Interest.
One example of this is my opponent and incumbent Town Councillor for Ward 5, Marc Grant.
Mr. Grant confirms on his LinkedIn profile that he is affiliated with Film.ca since at least November 2016 to the present.
In a Site Plan Committee Meeting on January 12, 2016, Mr. Grant declared a pecuniary interest with respect to an item that involved Film.ca Cinemas because he was associated with this business. This declaration was the appropriate thing to do in order to maintain transparency.
However, at Planning and Development Council Meetings on July 6, 2020, and October 4, 2021, and a Special Council meeting on May 13, 2021, Mr. Grant did not declare Declarations of Pecuniary Interest when the same business, Film.ca was involved in Agenda items.
I feel that Mr. Grant should have been consistent and declared Declarations of Pecuniary Interest for all of the meetings dealing with Film.ca in order maintain transparency and eliminate any potential conflicts of interest or perceived conflicts of interest
