The issues for this study are outlined as “The impacts of current and future development and changes in land use within areas of Town of Oakville, north of Dundas Street, are of concern” in the terms of reference for the study.
The study alludes that future development should only take place if stormwater runoff is controlled to ensure that Peak Flow Rates and associated flood levels are not increased as a result proposed development, and that the areas downstream are not negatively impacted through the implementation of the recommended stormwater management best management practices.
One of the specific goals and objectives of the Subwatershed Plan in connection with flooding and flood hazards were:
Since the floodplains south of Dundas Street continue to expand, and because some homes built north of Dundas Street are already impacted by the Regulation Limit established by Conservation Halton, I would personally conclude that the goals and objectives were not met.
